Back to the kits...
Curating quilt kits is one of my favorite things to do for you, but it can also be really tricky. Finding just the right combination of colors for new versions of Krista Moser's Crimson Christmas pattern was a bigger challenge than I expected. In my mind, I could see exactly which fabric colors it needed, but finding fabrics that were actually in stock was hard! I love a good puzzle though and solving this one was so worth it.

It's important to me to hold true to Krista's original fabric colors while giving the Crimson Christmas quilt kit an updated feel. I auditioned so many reds, mauves, and beiges - some were too bright, too dull, or too meh - but the final color palettes came together so beautifully.
In the classic quilt kit, the traditional, elegant, and festive feel of Krista Moser's original colors shine through. For the mauves, I leaned into more of a pink hue which gives the quilt a lovely freshness. I wish I could say that I went more toward pink by choice, but I that's not how it went down. Matching the mauve fabrics was SO hard, like super duper hard. All of the mauve fabrics that Krista used were discontinued and finding anything similar was almost impossible. With every fabric swatch card spread out on my table, I hunted for colors with the same feel and finally came up with six lovely pinky-mauves that work beautifully in the pattern.
I also put together two light & bright Crimson Christmas quilt kits: Sugar Plum and Merrily. These colorways shine with joyful pinks, oranges, yellows, and purples that make the blooms in Krista Moser's pattern sparkle. Both quilt kits include a variety of beautiful fabrics from Moda and Art Gallery Fabrics including Thatched, Spotted, Grunge, Dotty Thatched, and Floral Elements. The Sugar Plum and Merrily quilt kits are available to preorder and will ship in late October.

All three quilt kits also include handy options to add-on the Crimson Christmas pattern, some background, and/or backing fabric that way you can get exactly what you need to get started. This is a great time of the year to get a jump on some holiday sewing, and you'll definitely get some ooo's and ahhhh's with the Crimson Christmas Quilt Kit.
