Ugh! Scammers really are the worst. And fake USPS delivery messages are popping up on people's phones more and more these days. If you've received a text saying your package "needs verification", “is delayed”, or is being held hostage for a $2.31 fee... take a deep breath.
These people/bots know we're all waiting for something to arrive, so they send us fake shipping texts hoping we'll click before our morning caffeine kicks in. They intentionally create a sense of urgency, too (what jerks!).
I have some good news! These texts are pretty easy to spot once you know what to look for. Here are my best tips for some healthy skepticism to keep you safe and aware:
Trust Your Gut -if the message feels weird or “off", it probably is
Skip the Link -don't click links to verify personal info or to pay fees in unexpected texts
Go to the Source- check your tracking directly from the shop where you placed your order. In my shop, you can always safely track your order right from your store profile.
Most importantly, don't feel embarrassed if one of these texts makes you worry or wonder. They're intentionally designed to look convincing, and they fool plenty of smart people every day.
You truly matter to me and I hope this helps you or someone you love.
