Podcast Episode 3: Quilt Shows and Competition

Posted on December 17, 2014 by Cristy Fincher | 6 comments

Hi Everyone!

Gosh, it's been such a long time. I'm sorry for being absent for so long. I think I need more hours in my day so I can write more blog posts and tutorials, and record more podcasts for you.

This podcast was recorded with a bit of hestitance, but I feel strongly that it's valuable to all quilters.

Competing in any quilt show is a very personal decision. When asked my advice, I always ask, "What's your intention for YOU?"

We're in this quilting thing together. It may be cliche, but each of us is a piece of a whole quilt, making up the quilting industry. Evolution and growth is necessary to progress, and postitve progression will only happen when we continue to honor and value those quilters that have come before us.

In this episode, I'll talk about:

  • Why I choose to compete, or not to compete
  • Consider your own intention for whether or not to compete
  • Coming together as quilters, at shows, to be inspired
  • Seeking out experts to help teach us
  • Honoring those that came before us

I hope you enjoy this episode! If you have any questions, please leave a comment. Remember, you can subscribe on iTunes ;).

Happy Quilting!

~Cristy

Thank you so much Christie for the wonderful podcast. I have been watching your mothers YouTube videos for a while now and I am in such awe how she can put her quilts together. we can all learn from her techniques and the care that she puts into all of the work that she does. I have been sewing a quilt just now and wanted to listen to something . I put on your mothers YouTube videos again and she mentioned your website so here I am . So glad that I found it. Thank you for your podcast and inspiration .

Really am enjoying your Podcasts, have listened to your three. Please continue with your tutorials. I would like to know if you have finished the DWRQAL, I can only get to Assembling Apple Core Units. I really have learned quite a lot from these tutorials and videos. Thank you and keep up doing all that you do for us.
