In part 2 of Week 6, we'll assemble columns 3 and 4 of our Crimson Christmas quilt.

Happy Quilting!

Step 36: Columns 3 and 4

Column 3 includes:

  • (1) partial Leaf Unit
  • (3) full Red Bloom Units
  • (1) full Leaf Unit
  • (1) full White Bloom Unit
  • (1) partial White Bloom Unit

As you remove the units from your quilt layout for assembly, keep them stacked in order of assembly (top to bottom).

Joining Column 3:

  1. First, align the two units at the top of the column with right sides together:
    (1) Partial Leaf Unit + (1) Full Red Bloom Unit
NOTE: This column is assembled very much like Column 2.
  2. Align the center intersections and glue or pin baste in place. The seam intersections should cross at the 1/4" spot on the seam allowance. Double check the alignment by rolling back the seam allowance a bit to see if they meet at the 1/4".
  3. Sew the seam.
  4. Press the seam open (release glue if needed).
  5. Repeat each step to join each unit of Column 3.

The next two videos below will walk you through assembling Column 3.

Column 4 includes:

  • (1) partial Leaf Unit
  • (3) full Red Bloom Units
  • (1) full Leaf Unit
  • (1) full White Bloom Unit
  • (1) partial White Bloom Unit

As you remove the units from your quilt layout for assembly, keep them stacked in order of assembly (top to bottom).

Joining Column 4:

  1. First, align the two units at the top of the column with right sides together:
    (1) Partial Leaf Unit + (1) Full Red Bloom Unit
NOTE: This column is assembled very much like Columns 2 and 3.
  5. Repeat each step to join each unit of Column 4.

The next two videos below will walk you through assembling Column 4.
